If you’re .new to the world of hummus, welcome to yet, another chapter in “The Tastes of Hummus”. If not, let me know if you’ve tried this one.
Personally, hummus is a “savory” food to me. Now as you walk the case of hummus, there is now chocolate hummus and other “sweet” flavors of hummus. It’s hard for me to try them because sweet and hummus just don’t go together for me. Just like green bananas. It just doesn’t work. If you’ve tried chocolate hummus, please let me know in the comments below and TIA.
Here is a way to bridge the gap between sweet and savory. Macadamia nuts are one of my very favorites. I plan to bring some back from Maui when I go this spring. Now that we are impatiently waiting for spring, whip up a batch of this and enjoy with your favorite chip, fruit or veggie.
- 1/2 cup roasted macadamia nuts
- 2 cups garbanzo beans, drained
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 10 medium basil leaves
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Pulse all of the ingredients into a food processor and puree until smooth. Serve with veggies to dip!
