Of course there is a day dedicated to my very first word. Yes, you heard that right. I didn’t say “mama” or ” dada”, I went full on chocolate. Chocolate was a friend of mine for many years. Unfortunately, too much of a friend. It wasn’t the good kind of chocolate and it would temporarily make me feel better. Anyone know that story?
Chocolate is not the enemy. It’s the sugar. We don’t have to give up the joy of chocolate, we just have to change the way we enjoy it.
If we trace chocolate to its origins: this is what we learn. “The seeds of the cacao tree have an intense bitter taste and must be fermented to develop the flavor. After fermentation, the beans are dried, cleaned, and roasted.”
If we were to be completely present and take a small amount of quality chocolate, it would satisfy our desire for chocolate. We have become numb to true taste. True, pure chocolate is bitter and must be worked with other ingredients. It’s those ingredients are the key to quality chocolate.
There is a local chocolate and coffee shop that creates the finest chocolate. They start with nibs and create different flavors and blends. When you are able to savor the taste of quality, quantity doesn’t matter.
Today, I challenge you to find a quality chocolatier, browse their store and chose a small quantity of quality chocolate. When your taste buds first taste the amazing quality of fine chocolate, you will be changed forever.
I challenge you this week to be completely present and savor the quality flavor of impeccable chocolate.
