I love spring and the smell of fresh soil and the gorgeous flowers. Spring means rebirth and regrowth. The beginning of a new cycle and joy of the newness of life after winter.
One of my favorite desserts that simple and easy is this trifle. In less than 30 minutes you have a beautiful, light and airy fruit trifle.
1 angle food cake tore into bite-sized pieces
2 cups plain non-fat greek yogurt
1/4 c. powdered dark chocolate cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. honey or maple syrup
strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
In a bowl blend yogurt, chocolate powder, vanilla, honey or syrup and cinnamon until creamy and smooth.
In a trifle bowl place a layer of torn angel food cake, layer with a layer of yogurt blend, layers with fruit, layer again with cake, yogurt, fruit until all is used ending with a layer of fruit. Let sit for 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
